Below are step-by-step instructions for generating and completing your self-recorded exam once our administration team has enrolled you. Please read them carefully and thoroughly.
1. Once you receive the email confirming your enrollment in the exam, open the exam in your BASI Portal account and accept the Enrollment Agreement. You must agree to the Enrollment Agreement before you can proceed to the next step.
2. Tuition fees for Self-Recorded Testing are due at the time of enrollment. To make your payment, go to the
Manage Billing tab on the left side of the screen. [More information on how to complete payment is available
here.]
3. After your payment is complete, the Self-Recording Instructions tab will appear in your exam. Be sure to read these instructions carefully. Failure to follow them will result in an automatic No Pass.
4. When you are ready to begin the exam, click the Start button. The 72-hour countdown does NOT start at time of enrollment. It starts when the Start button is clicked.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- It is the student's responsibility to arrange a location to film with access to all apparatus covered in their program. Studio use must be approved by the studio before filming.
- Students will need to independently arrange a volunteer to teach when filming the teaching portion of the exam. Volunteers should ideally be injury-free, at an intermediate level, and familiar with the BASI methodology. Students are welcome to teach in their preferred language.
- Use of BASI Systems equipment is not required for filming.
- Students must have the ability to record with quality audio and video in order to participate in Self-Recorded Testing. The student’s entire body must remain in frame at all times, and submissions must be recorded in a single, continuous video without any cuts or edits.
- Be sure you are uploading the correct videos. Once uploaded, video submissions cannot be changed. Allow ample time for videos to be uploaded. Do not zip your files. Zipped files will not upload!
5. After Start is clicked, the repertoire list for the practical exam will be generated and the 72-hour countdown to submit your videos will begin. You must submit videos within these 72 hours. If your videos are not submitted on time, your exam will be voided.
6. Once you have finished recording your teaching video and practical video, upload each one to the Portal. You will receive a notification when the uploads are complete. Make sure you are uploading the correct videos, as submissions cannot be changed after uploading. Allow plenty of time for your videos to upload, and do not compress or zip your files, as zipped files will not upload.
7. Click the blue Submit for Grading button to complete your submission. You will receive another notification once the submission is completed.
8. Your submissions will be reviewed by BASI Examiners. Please allow up to four weeks to receive your results.
